Balayage or highlights: which is right for you
Balayage: hand-painted, softer at the root, and it grows out without a hard line, so visits can be further apart.
Full highlights: foils through the whole head for the brightest, most even result.
Partial highlights: foils around your face and part line. Quicker, and a lighter commitment.

What happens
- The look: we talk through the result you want and how much upkeep suits you. Photos help.
- Placement: we paint or foil, depending on the technique you chose.
- Processing: the lightener develops while we check it until it reaches the right level.
- Toning: a toner or gloss sets the final shade.
- The finish: washed and styled before you leave.
How it works
Lightener works by breaking down the natural pigment in the hair. (Kim, Oh and Chang, Applied Microscopy, 2024 (opens in a new tab)) As hair lifts, it passes through warmer stages, which is why a toner usually follows to bring the shade where you want it. How often should I come back?
It depends on the technique and how much contrast you want. Your stylist will suggest timing at your appointment.
Can I go from dark to blonde in one visit?
Sometimes. Bigger changes are often done over two or more visits to protect your hair.
Will lightening damage my hair?
Lightening always affects the hair. (He et al., Frontiers in Medicine, 2023 (opens in a new tab)) We choose the technique and timing to keep it healthy.
Can highlights help with gray?
Highlights can soften the line where gray grows in. Ask at a consultation.
How long does it take?
